Putting this on its own thread. This was put together by G Neville and J Carragher on MNF about 12 months ago.
It’s over a 3 year period as they feel that’s a reasonable time period and ignoring the different formats of the European competitions.
I’d put Man City : 2 league titles, 1 FA cup and 3 LC joint 6th. Liverpool under Klopp very close to making the top 4 if they won B2B champions league and won the league with 97 points. My Dad says that’s Everton side are unlucky as they could have won a European cup in that period. People saying that Leeds side were better but way before my time. They got to a lot of finals in the 70’s but as many defeats as wins. |

Ridiculous that it only goes back to 1960. Going back through the decades the best teams were probably:
1870s- Wanderers 5 cups, 3 in a row(I think) 1880s- Blackburn Rovers 3 cups in a row and Preston's invincibles 1890s- Villa 5 or 6 league titles and a few cups 1900s- The Wednesday( later becoming Sheffield Wednesday) and Newcastle with a couple of titles each. No really dominant club sides. 1910s-Blackburn Rovers had 2 titles before the war. 1920s- Huddersfield's team under Chapman, probably the first great manager. 1930s- Chapman's Arsenal 1940s- war disrupted 1950s- Wolves/ Busby Babes 1960s- Spurs 61 / Manchester United 68 / 1970s- Paisley's Liverpool/ Revie's Leeds/ Clough's Derby/Forest 1980s- Paisley's Liverpool/ Dalglish's Liverpool/ Kendall's Everton 1990s- Fergie's Fledglings(brilliantly ridiculous name) 2000s- Arsenal invincibles 2010s- nothing remarkable due to manner of victories. It is the hard to compare between eras. That Liverpool side of the late 70s and early 80s is probably the best. It is then a case of mix and match. Arguments could be made for all the others that are mentioned.

I'm offended you missed out Sunderland! That decade was just a decade of Villa and Sunderland taking turns! Much similar to City/Liverpool nowadays.

Sunderland are England's sixth most successful club of all time, having won the English League championship six times: in 1892, 1893, 1895, 1902, 1913 and, most recently, in 1936. They have also been runners-up on a further five occasions: in 1894, 1898, 1901, 1923 and 1935

Fair point, Corner! I simply forget about their success at the time.
