Theoretical question but what would people’s reaction be if a player decided he didn’t want to play international football while covid 19 is still out there and spreading.  This has happened in the US with many players.   Mentioned this morning on OTB.

So would the player be treated like Stephen Ireland or Roy Keane etc or would there be lots of sympathy.
AKA pedantic kunt

Perfectly understandable IMO

Davy Fitz said he wouldn't hold it against Wexford player if they said they didn't feel comfortable playing intercounty in the current climate

Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".

Bill O'Herlihy: Ah ye can't be saying that now Eamonn

Most reasonable people would understand.
Some idiots on social media would abuse them.
That's the way of the world at the moment unfortunately.

International football and to a lesser extent European football shouldn’t be happening at the moment so it would be perfectly understandable.
League football should the priority right now but it’s not the cash cow UEFA need

Top Club teams are cornered. On one hand you can understand them not wanting International football going ahead yet on the otherhand they'd be very resistant to no European football.

There would need to be a raft of withdrawals for any Wexford players to be called up.

I think it would be sensible and encouraging if some of them took a stand. I think the fear of a backlash of public opinion is probably stopping them, so we will continue with friendly paced NL games.

No issue with it. In regards to GAA players, unlike footballers its not their job so more of a risk for them. But still dont see many pulling out over it.
