It was someone from the Comms dept. He was due to travel with the 21s until the first positive case. Two other colleagues had been deemed close contacts to the first case so couldn;t go. This lad hadn't apparently been in close contact so got bumped from the 21s bubble into the senior one. Even then they were due to sit seperately from the team but seems Connolly and Idah sat in the wrong seats and no one told them to move. Not sure but think the FAI were supossed to have someone there for media duties. Interviews after the game etc. That's why the interview after was from Guy Havord in a studio somewhere. But under current circumstances yes, it certainly seems non essential. Good summary here and was discussed in depth on off the ball this, afternoon. 12 yards and 10 centimetres: Communication vacuums, fake WhatsApp messages and the Connolly/Idah drama |

That was a uefa test rather than the FAI ones which were negative. No chance of sending JD in to look for a few quid compensation for missing out in another play off?

He would be all this scenario. At a minimum surely Idah and Connolly are back in the fold for NL games this week?

Doesn't look like it. Doubt the clubs will release them again now.

Where people sat on a plane, the false positive test, 1.9 metres or whatever, none of it means anything, it's all BS.

Even if Connolly and Idah had played, there would still be the suspicion it would have only finished 0-0 or 1-1 and gone to penalties anyway. We probably shouldn't get too worked up about any of it.

who’s idea was it to change seats? Why did they do that? Pretty stupid in this day with covid protocols. Not sure it would have made a difference at the end though.

I agree with all of the above. Silly to be moving seats - a small risk is a big risk at the moment. But not sure if they were available the result would have been any different. McClean was only playing because Connolly was out, and McClean stopped a goal scoring chance with a fantastic run back which I'm not sure we'd have seen from Connolly.
