I thought these two clubs had until 5pm to get a deal done or they are gone so why aren't they expelled from the football league now that it is hours past the deadline.Confused

The statement is quite iron fisted.

Basically in a nutshell. Bolton have been given a 14 day stay of execution on the basis they were fulfilling their fixtures, even with U21's conceding 5 goals every game.
The EFL simply had enough of Bury. There was 3 fresh takeover bids at around 4pm, but they decided the club had taken the piss too much.

Poor Bolton now need to figure out how the f**k do you attract investors when you're £30 million in debt in League 1 and that figure is rising every month as the debt has been there ever since Big Sam was around so imagine the interest rates on it. I suppose it's alot better than the £200 million they were in debt in April until a few braincells realised they're never getting that money back and wrote it off.

The English Football League will appeal against the "lenient" suspended points deduction given to Bolton Wanderers over unfulfilled fixtures.

Bolton had a five point deduction suspended for eighteen months after failing to fulfil fixtures against Brentford last season and Doncaster this term.

The EFL said it is "disappointed by the conclusions reached by the independent disciplinary commission".

Bolton were fined a total of £70,000, with half also suspended for 18 months.

Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt says there is a 'real connection' between the club and fans after their Papa Johns Trophy triumph over Plymouth.

As recently as 2019 the former Premier League side were close to liquidation, until a takeover was finally completed.

The Trotters thrashed League One promotion rivals Plymouth at Wembley on Sunday for a first trophy since 1997.

What really stood out about yesterday's game was that a minor cup final between two third tier teams drew a crowd of 79,389 - the biggest attendance of the weekend anywhere in Europe!

I don't know what the split was between the fans, but it's 240 miles to Wembley from Plymouth and 205 miles from Bolton.

"Quite remarkable!", as David Coleman might have said.
