Anybody had a holiday in Norway - recommendations ?
Thinking of going mid August for 7 - 10 days.
Maybe skip car hire and will travel by train in Oslo Stavenger Bergen triangle.

Cruises never appealed to me until I saw the trips up Norway's coast. It seems to be the only way to get to see this stunning scenery.

Unfortunately, I could never afjord it.

(i wanna help).

Some transport. Accommodation and cutting costs links.

Out of that land, sea and air connections website.  As you may know land services (bus, train) may travel by ferry.

Norwegian Railways significant savings with advanced booking

Apoligies rutebok.no appears to be gone, that's a very big deal.  I am surprised by this.

To compensate there's this travel site that promises comprehensive connections.

On my list of places to visit (properly), I thankfully won't need to pay for accommodation given I have a load of friends from there from a load of places.

I concur though with people in regards prices though it's expensive, I came back through Torp via an away trip (not sure which one) was 350kr (About €35) for a pint and a pre-made deli sandwich.

From having friends from the the various areas from what I have been shown and seen via social media etc. the area around Stavanger, Haugesund and Bergen are spectacular.

Also if you can go further North too Tromso and Bodø look amazing too.

A friend of mine recently went to Svalbard an island North of Norway one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights just watch out for Polar Bears

Spent a few weekends there in the Telemark region over the years playing music.  A beautiful country for sure and the people are exceptionally nice also, but it's very very expensive and summers can be as damp as Ireland.  A weekend is plenty in my opinion.
