New manager.  The atmosphere around the camp will be like night and day from the doom of the O'Neill regime of 2017/18. Easy fixtures to start off with so should be in confident form ahead of the autumn games with a good chance of finishing in the top 2.

Declan Rice.  Our main man for the near future. He might form a decent partnership with McCarthy when he returns in 2019.

We will be able to field a team of nearly all premier league players with maybe 1 or two Championship players thrown in.

                                                 Randolph

Coleman               Duffy                Clark                Cunningham

Doherty               Arter              Rice     McCarthy                Brady

                                 Obafemi   /    Long  / McGoldrick

I think that's a decent side and one more than capable of qualifying us. Few jungfellas on the way in the next few years potentially. Parrott and Kelleher and maybe the likes of Nolan at Inter.

Can't share your optimism! Rice would be a huge addition, no doubting that, but where is the creativity? And if we find the creativity, who will score them?
That team, at its best can scrape nil all draws against good teams. We need to find wins. Mick will have to work miracles to get second.

nathan redmond would be a great addition to that team for some creativity at the expense of either arter or mccarrthy, playing in behind the striker in a free role... all conjecture in saying that of course

If you beat the seeds below you then all you need to qualify is to not get beaten against the top sides.  Typical Ireland but we usually seem to get one of the top sides in the group beating one of our rivals so draws do us. If Denmark beat Switzerland or vice versa and draw with them then draws will do us which we are capable of.  We also have the safety net of the playoffs to fall back on.

Lack of a striker worries me the most. Maybe Obafemi will prove to be a decent player.

Keeping four clean sheets against sides with quality like Eriksen and Shaqiri, when they are going to dominate the ball is a huge ask. We can't really even rely on set-pieces right now, although I think that is an area we will improve on immediately.

We need a creative player, even to bring off the bench and we need a striker to find form. Redmond would be a great addition to the team, I can't see it happening though.
