It may be that the Academies in England aren't producing the number and calibre of young player that they should be.

But how long have they been going? Twenty years (max)?

The deficiencies in talent production long predate that, back to when donkeys like Kerry Dixon, Carlton Palmer and Vinnie Jones could get international caps (to take three examples off the top of my head)

Indeed, it could be said to have gone back even further, eg to 1958, when England played out in the World Cup Finals in Sweden with Derek Kevan as their Centre Forward. Now to be fair to Kevan, he did score two goals out there, but still, when your main man up front is a 23 year old WBA player, whose nickname from Baggies fans was "The Tank", then it suggests subtlety was not his trade mark!

I think if I had a son of Academy age I'd be reluctant to send him to a EPL club perhaps a championship club like Reading would be a better option?

Went over for a weekend with Antoine Sibierski and fell in love with the place. Apparently bought a house very quickly on a whim and rarely used it. Hung up his boots and again, on a whim, decided to move over. Deadly Cool

I can see Tayo playing footie in the streets of Monaco. Lamborghinis for goalposts. Putting a reducer in on the Prince of Bahrain

You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

The factory system is creating robotic players.

You'll never see a player like Matt Le Tissier make it through.
