Very positive step for the league and the clubs, will be brilliant to have a complete pathway for players.
I can see a lot of clubs using their "link" clubs to operate their U15 teams (ie Bray / Joeys etc.), meaning schoolboy clubs maintain a degree of control over younger players while LOI clubs farm out the cost / resources. |

Any one know when u15 league is starting ( heard August) and what age group. Hearing 2002 for interim and then 2003 from a March. Do 2002 then go u17. Clubs don't seem yo know much either??

Definitely kicking off in August for an truncated interim season, running until December. League will begin from scratch March 2018 and run alongside the other League of Ireland schedules.
Majority of clubs are likely to fill squads with 10 x 2002 and 10 x 2003 players, meaning a constant balance of players flowing from one age group to another, without having to create an entire squad every season. |

Franny Rockett is in as Waterford U15 Coach be interesting to see how this pans out, the u17 & u19 league have been a success for the most part.Personally I would have had an u21 or u23 league to bridge the gap between u19 and Senior.
Ruud Dokketer's PDP is slowly being implemented and we will hopefully reap the benefits of it in years to come.

All of these schoolboy leagues should be scrapped and have a regionalised national division starting at U12/13 level. Travelling 2 and 3 hours to play games here in Canada is commonplace and everybody does it. Ireland is small enough to make this work. All the DDSL, NDSL etc serve is the old dinosaurs in suits who think they are helping the game in Ireland. We should be all on the same page here when it comes to player development but unfortunately all these leagues are interested it seems is getting players across the water by any means

Agreed with the gap between U19 and Senior football needing to be bridged, but filtering players into first teams isn't the FAI motives . The introduction of the under age national leagues allows the best players to consistently compete, making it easier for international managers to assess player levels. For example, U17 manager would just need to watch a game like Cork City v Galway to assess the best players at that age group as its most likely that the best players will have risen to this level in their respective regions! Seems as though it's assumed that if a player hasn't progressed from U19 to first team League of Ireland football then they won't be good enough to make an impact at international level in the future, making a reserve / U23 league redundant. Don't understand what's stopping LOI clubs creating "reserve" fixtures regularly themselves so they can retain "overage" players that aren't yet ready for first team. |

How has this (truncated) season been going so far?
In fairness to Dokter an elite pathway to senior level is a great idea . Is the U13 LOI still on the cards for 2019? |
