Recently, the Dutch territory of Sint Maarten (CONCACAF members, but not FIFA-affiliated) played their first international match in over 10 years in preparation for qualifying for the Caribbean Cup -- a 2-0 friendly victory over neighboring Anguilla.  I run a website for football in the Caribbean, and in my research, I found that a Corkman by the name of Kevin Dekkers started for Sint Maarten on the day and, I would assume, will be in their squad for their upcoming Caribbean Cup matches against Grenada and USVI.  This may be of no interest to anyone but me, but I thought I would share it as it is a full international team, and you don't see too many Irish-born players representing other countries (or territories).

Former Ireland youth international Keiran Murtagh has also been called up by Antigua and Barbuda, who he has represented on a number of occasions previously as well.

I remember there was lads who played in west Cork, for Drinagh I think, who had either black Dutch or Surinamese father. Very talented. I am sure there is a link. Think one played minor Gaelic football for Cork.

Interesting to hear that. I'm pretty sure that when we played Gibraltar last September, they'd an Irish born player on their bench. Interestingly another team that's not a FIFA member. Eamon Zayed with Libya is the only other Irish born player representing another nation I can think of.

A bit of a random addition, but Jamie Bosio is the name of the Gilbratar player, he has since earned caps for their full international team.  Gerard Gregg, I believe from Dublin, earned three caps for Turks and Caicos between 2004-2006 as well.

The aforementioned Dekkers, by the way, captained Sint Maarten in their two Caribbean Cup matches in 2016 (0-5 v. Grenada and 1-2 v. USVI), but has not played for them since (though he is 38 now).

Suppose Ayman Ben Mohamed could be counted now as well even if not born in Ireland.

Roberto Lopes started as Cape Verde beat Cameroon in an African Cup of Nations qualifier. First competitive appearance for him.

Former LOI stalwart Kaleem Simon, who has an Irish mother, made his debut for Montserrat this year, and he was involved as their World Cup qualifying hopes ended despite a victory over Grenada last night.
