I don't rate him too highly and think we could do with an upgrade. That said, our other options are not any better.

I wouldn't mind giving Collins a go in the middle in one or two of the friendlies next season. I have no evidence to say it will work other than some ball playing CBs in the past have been able to fill that position with even City using a formation that puts the extra CB into the middle during certain passages of play. It might help us to be harder to beat, which has been our biggest issue recently (we have always struggled to score other than set pieces but now we are still struggling while also conceding too much)

He is no longer a starter for Burnley.
Hardly gets a mention on here, there's no discussion about what's going on with him.
Who might play the #6 role in his place?

I've been wondering what going on with him too.
He's been out of matchday squads 4 times this season, and left on the bench 4 more times. All since he served a Yellow Card suspension:

Haven't seen mention of an injury.

He'll definitely keep his squad place as he's one of our best midfielders, but injured or dropped, either way, we've needed a backup no.6 for years already.

Molumby can cover there, but a no.6 needs to be better on the ball than he is.

The 3 short term options:
Coventry should be moving on from West Ham next month.
Connell is back playing after his illness, & will surely get an upward move in the summer if he's back to his best.
Hodge has spoken about going on loan in January.

By March & June any/all 3 of them could be in contention for a call up.

Think Bosun Lawal is someone we should consider for the number 6 role. Maybe CB is his preferred position but think he's wasted there for us when you consider the options we've got that can play CB.

Similar with Sean Roughan, Alex Murphy, and Anselmo Garcia. All lads probably prefer playing CB but we should consider them LBs.

Hodge needs to replace this guy, he can actually get turned on the ball and make a forward pass.

Couldn’t believe it was given to him. An ok performance but felt Collins or Sammie would have been more deserving

Unfortunately for Cullen, Smallbone, (and Knight), the narrative on them is set. Whether they play well or not the usual eeijits will call them sh*t. Cullen had a good game, covered loads of ground and used the ball well, none of that was ever going to matter though because many people have already decided they think he's cr*p.
We're decent enough..

Nobody, probably.
But O'Shea won't let that interfere.
