I googled the fixture list for the 2014 LOI season and both the Indo site and the Airtricity site state that The Hoops are home to Derry on March 7th. One of my Rovers mates checked the club`s site and the Derry game is listed for March 9th. Can someone looking on here please state for certain whether the game is on the Friday night or Sunday afternoon?
No offence to the likes of Bray, UCD or Athlone but Derry is the perfect opener. It`ll be a tough test ahead of a long season. I like Roddy, he has a great sense of fun, once he doesnt come swaggering over to the East Stand in his Copeland Clobber and wave up at us, smirking after a Derry win Great squad for the season ahead and TC has signed well. Good mix of youth and experience and I`m really glad to see David O`Connor come in from UCD. This young lad has great potential and will learn heaps from experienced pros like Mc Guinness and Kenna.

AFAIK Game is scheduled for 5:30pm kickoff on the Sunday to facilitate TV, but not the fans. Others may be able to confirm that time.

Thanks for that info. Havent missed a league opener in yonks but I`ve a family "do" to attend on March 9th and was hoping the game was on the Friday. But a 5.30 kickoff should be manageable and I can slip off a bit early.
While I`m on, anyone at the pre-season friendlies or tonight`s 5-1 against the Glens? We`ve all been here before, full of expectation for the season ahead only to feel let down in the end. But players like Bayly, Mc Phail and KM Waters should bring a buzz to the changing room. |
