not only that - the countries around us got decent results for their co-efficients. lithuania, iceland and luxembourg all had clubs progressing

I suppose the question is, are these countries improved structures now bearing fruit? Or are these just "blips" which our own recent successes now look like? I would say for ourselves it's a case of two steps forward and one and a half steps back in the past two decades. Until we make serious and deep-rooted structural changes in Irish Football at every level, not just LOI, then we will merely go on performing heroically occasionally, but ultimately being bypassed by what on paper should be "lesser" leagues.

Must be said, Derry gave a great performance last night, especially the first half. But I couldn't help thinking when it was still 0-0, jeez Derry are really gonna pay for not converting these chances. And on the field that "cutting edge" is one of the primary differences between ourselves and superior sides.

After 2009 we were 29th in the co-efficient rankings, we've then dropped to 31st, then to 33rd, then to 36th to 41st as it stands & there is a good chance we'll go down another place possibly down 2 places before the end of this years qualifying rounds.

I'm kind of amazed to see a team that finished 4th in the Luxembourg league managed to knock out Utrecht.

That is seriously depressing to read Cry

At this rate, We will have to "pre-qualify" for the Champions League by way of the 1st round against the mighty Andorrans & Faroese. We need some sort of concerted, united campaign by the clubs and their supporters for radical change.
A relatively simple step, would be move the league break in June back to mid July. What's the point having a break, especially in a year with no International Tournaments, during June, but then having games cancelled, fixture pile-ups and European preparation disrupted in July??? Fcukin brain-dead stuff Angry

The league needs to act with one voice and demand change or we're fcuked for the foreseeable future.

the coefficient is vital, once you build it up and start winning then you can keep winning with easier draws and seedings etc etc
The first time the Devil made me do it. The second time I did it on my own.

Molde is an amazing place. So scenic. Absolutely brilliant spot. Would need a fortune to go there for any great length of time though. €8 a pint, €25 for a burger.

Went on the club charter but others made their own way. Mainly through Oslo.

is that your photo on foot.ie. stadium looks like its in a fantastic spot. looks a nice tidy little stadium with loads of parking outside....we are so far behind

Yeah would post it here if I could figure out how too!

Down to 42nd after games last night & the Albanians who are right behind us still have two teams left. We've got the lowest coefficient in Europe this year. Thumbs Down

The point is, the 30+'s in the league need summer holidays, before taking on the best Europe has to offer. So the whole league has to go on hold in June, waiting for them to come back from the likes of Crete and Tenerife. 3 months off in winter, including Christmas, obviously isn't long enough.

We used to laugh at the Brits taking their holidays right at the start of their European campaigns, before getting comprehensively walloped by the likes of FK Ragball abroad. Now they're playing the likes of Celtic and not ashaming themselves. Other Brits are even winning a round or two.

Our league can't act with one voice regarding the amount of teams in the divisions, let alone deciding when there should be a mid-season break. The culture is all "me, me, me, sod the rest of you".
VAR: Cutting the crap out of football.
