Fair play to him, he's resurrected his Derby career which otherwise looked destined for failure.

for the amount of times he has been on the bench and been in squads for us its somewhat surprising he only has 7 caps. i don't think he should really be in contention anyway considering we have JOS/clark/keogh/duffy in front of him but still surprising when MON has Pearce on the bench instead of O'dowda like against Georgia last month

We're into April, and Alex Pearce makes his first start of the season for Derby against Preston, coming in for Keogh following his horror show against Sunderland. Extraordinary to think that he was called into the squad for the Turkey game - and ahead of Brentford captain and regular, John Egan.
Cunningham is back for PNE; Browne and Maguire also start. Daryl Horgan (2 league starts this term) fails to make the bench. The match is on Sky.

Pearce played well. He's a better defender than Keogh, albeit not as comfortable on the ball. Maguire was decent for Preston, as was Robinson. Horgan and Boyle both need out of there, they've got a fair few average players ahead of them in the pecking order so Neil obviously doesn't rate them. They're both in their mid-20's, so can't afford to be sitting on the bench/in the reserves waiting for an opportunity to come their way.

Pearce did fine, but Derby pressed well and were never really overstretched. Rowett likes to play out from the back and that obviously counts against Pearce. Robinson looks like a he could be a useful player for us; full of running and a chaser of lost causes, he's also possesses decent ability and reasonable pace. And we need another option who can play on the right.

Just looking at his stats on Soccerbase. 14 clean sheets in his last 31 league games for Millwall. That seems pretty impressive.
I'm not positive but I think Millwall usually play a back 3 as well. It never worked out for him and us for a multitude of reasons but I don't recall him being that bad, granted I don't think he ever played a competitive game. |

Bring him into the squad -if we play Oman again he’s worth a punt on a goal
