You see this is why Trapattonis/FAI declaration about this was a few days ago was uncalled for really. Now, it seems it is due to personal reasons and whoever the poor player is has to hear all this needless speculation over the coming days. A terrible burden to put on someone who is already dealing with something serious.

Agreed. If it is the case that this is a serious illness/tragic circumstance, there was absolutely no need for trap/FAI to come out with insinuations. Explain the situation if necessary and appropriate when you're announcing the squad but not before then

So it's McCarthy?  McClean added, McCarthy out.
 
Don't think this was the impact player most were talking about.  Could have been much worse.

well its fairly bad if your james mccarthy....once your happy that its him that has to miss the tournament because his dad is so ill and not someone else thats all that matters
