Poznan announces a competition for Irish fans featuring very attractive prizes. The Host City of UEFA EURO 2012™ invites fans to participate in the fun by recording a short clip with football as its theme. Prizes include a trip to and stay in Poznan during the European Championships. Clips may be submitted until 15 May.

In organising UEFA EURO 2012™ the City of Poznan has for several years displayed its character of an open, European metropolis. In its promotional activities, the city has put an emphasis on showcasing the high quality of life in the city and its Western quality standards. Poznan plays regular host to important international events, and the city’s image as a reliable partner in their organisation goes hand in hand with its reputation for fine entertainment and excellent opportunities for spending your free time in the city.

The “Come and Join” competition reflects just this atmosphere. The advertising clip, featuring the Polish national team regular and long-time player of Lech Poznan – Bartosz Bosacki – is an invitation for football fans to participate in the competition and to record a clip which shows them playing with a football. The Poznan team legend passes the ball on to the other characters in the film. Everyone kicks the ball in a similar way, showing how the clip should be shot, by moving the ball from the left to the right side of the screen. The clips (not longer than 30 seconds) may be submitted until 15 May via the www.poznan.pl/uefaeuro2012 website or via iOS and Android applications, to be available from 23 April.

Kick the ball to Poznan!

20 winners will be picked from among the participants in the “Come and Join” contest, 5 from each country. The lucky winners will be invited on an unforgettable trip to Poznan for UEFA EURO 2012™.

The package for Irish winners features a trip to and a stay in Poznan between 9 and 11 June, the opportunity to take advantage of the city’s attractions, a VIP seat in the official Fan Zone of UEFA EURO 2012™ and a chance to see the Ireland-Croatia match (10 June).

The competition is organised in 3 countries whose national teams play their matches this June in Poznan (Croatia, Ireland, and Italy) and in Germany. The story has been adjusted to each of those countries.

“EURO” is the perfect occasion for us to show Europe’s citizens how well the residents of Poznan can organise such an important event, while having a tremendous amount of fun in the process. By the end of last year we surprised everyone by congratulating the first lucky teams on their advancement to the finals of the European Championships. Now we wish to invite all the fans from “our group” to come to Poznan and join in the celebrations of this extraordinary event! After UEFA EURO 2012™ we wish to be remembered as an open city in the very heart of Europe, well worth returning to for a host of other reasons”, explains Mayor Ryszard Grobelny.
