The Liverpool player know when they sign their contract that clause 17 (a) subsection 3. covers all this.

"By agreeing to move to Liverppol FC you are fully aware that you will be constantly annoyed by unemployedcrrly-haired supporters who will constantly call you "La". You also agree to be given a nickname (preferably ending in "lee" unless you name is Lee and then you will be known as a "red-haired git". You shall under no circumstances be caught reading the SUN or in fact any newspaper just looking at the pictures. You shall play crap after a set amount of games"...it does go on a bit but near the end is ..... "And you shall understand that your car will be burnt on a regular basis and your house burgled at least once, more if you actually live in Liverpool itself"
So really the players had it coming. Maybe that is why Gouldinho quiet rightly pointed out in a round about way that is why Liverppol try and not win too much as they won't have the medals for long anyway.
There are friendlier places to drink.
