You can't control whether they play or not.

You can't call them up to the 1st team squad when you need them you must wait for a transfer window.

One of the best thing about Barca and Villareal. Is the young players play together every week at a high competitve level. They aren't all scattered about at different clubs playing slightly different styles and then come back with little understanding of each other.

No doubt it would benefit the top clubs, but there's 88 other clubs in the football league outside the top four. Why should the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many?

You don't have to be in the 'top 4' to have a B team.

Villareal are a great example of using your B team well, leading them from being an unknown club to European cup semi finalists and La Liga runners up. It's no coincidence that the creation of their B team in 99 coincided with their rise to the top.

So if Barnet create a B team they too will rise to the top?

It would certainly improve the teams at the top, teams with bigger resources. The playing field is so skewed towards them as it is i cant see the other teams signing up to this. Id imagine this would need a majority decision from all the teams in the football league, and as the saying goes Turkeys dont vote Christmas.

It wouldn't harm them. And if they used it well who knows what might happen.

Spanish B teams started at regional level. It would certainly be a long term project, benefiting their national side in the future.

Agree with Clonbhoy and Ireland4ever on this one

Does this mean then the big boys get the extra tv revenue from having teams in the championship for example thus taking these much needed funds away from football league clubs where 99% of them are struggling as it is.

The big problem for the clubs wanting to do this is to get into the football league they have to get past a vote and no football league club with any sense would vote for it as they got their way with the epl but the FA/football league wouldnt sanction it. As was previously said the lower league clubs in england get crowds on a par with some top division clubs on the continent.
