Actually quite funny. Bought a book about fergie called the boss a good few years ago and have been rereading it lately. I think its uncanny the stuff fergie and trap wwnt through and have in common. Was reading how the average attendance at old trafford

dropped 8000 for the season in the years that utd were struggling. The crowds were dwindling away. All the utd fanzines were calling for his head. Not only because of the results but because of the unnattractive football on offer. Fans were complaining that they werent playing the united way and were much better to watch under atkinson. Sounds familiar doesnt it?! As I already mentioned both had to battle the booze culture and both basically expelled marquee players. Both were also critised for their man management. Both were stubborn and ruled with an iron fist.

Just an irrelevant fact that was interesting. Fergie tried to force paul mcgrath to retire in early 1989. Mcgrath waa stunned and said no way. Mcgrath was rightly pissed off and said how fergie was visibly devastated when he refused.

Well, you have to admit, shebber really makes a good point!!

seriously though, up until we qualified we had a lot of people complaining about the way Trap was setting up the team, and when they gave their reasons why, they would regurgitate some twaddle that dunphy had said or richard Sadlier had written in the Indo, failing to realise that dunphy made a carreer of being controversial for the sake of it, with sadlier trying to emulate him.

In Sadlier's case, at least he has played football in modern times and has at least a vague understanding of what he's talking about. As for dunphy.....if you take anything he has to say seriously, then you shouldn't really be discussing football topics!

Yes its true. I know my football. I dont like any manager of the irish team baby! Havent you neen watching me on t.v. for the last 120 years!? Fergie and wenger have lost the plot Bill. Trap is a cenile old fart who wouldn't know the beautiful game if it came up and bit him in his overpaid italian arse Bill. There are children at home crying because of Trapattoni. Its wrong wrong wrong and someone needs to stand up to this bully.

How was he right on charlton, Trap, Kerr and stan? His Default setting is 'criticize the manager of the irish team' and that's the beginning and end of it! He criticized McCarthy too of course, so he hasn't liked any manager, including 100% of those managers who have actually brought us to the finals of a tournament! The only Ireland manager he has ever liked is Giles!!

He gets it so wrong so often it's embarrassing for him, though he doesn't have to worry about being pulled up on it! Remember he told us we wouldn't qualify after the Armenia match in Dublin? Maybe you remember him telling us Cox would be anonymous in that match.....when he ended up being Man of the Match!

Then again, 'Platini is a good player not a great player, and he'll be found out in this tournament'!

PS....Platini went on to win the golden boot in that tournament!!!
