As lifelong Irish football fans we all live in the glass-half full mindest. Fair enough....thats why we all love it like we do. But theres more to it than singing songs and waving flags. From an actual football point of view, we are running a serious risk playing how we do. I'm as delighted as anyone we're still in with a great shout, but if anyone knows anything about football, we are not performing well enough.

The time will come when we will have to(playoff) go and really grab a game by the scruff and give another team the run around and put them under. Thats not an easy thing to just turn on and off when you have very little match practice of playing at a high tempo like that.

Trap has brought us on a good deal from his predecessors in terms of competing at the right end of business which is to be commended no matter if you like him or not. But it still remains that in nearly every game I dont think even the most optimistic of fans can say that they dont have a bad nagging feeling at the back of their minds that something bad could happen to us.

Armenia could be a real test. Its do for die for them more than us which could be a negative for us. We cant afford to give them anything and I mean anything. Which brings it back to the problem that we allow other teams to play far too much.

3 points from tonight is all can be said. No performances worth mentioning or tactical approaches worth praise. It was what is was. Beating one of the worst teams in the world. Nothing more can really be taken from it no matter what side of the fence your on.
International Caps - 7

International Goals - 1

Once again many on here are confusing international football and entertainment. Very rarely do you see expansive football from international players. As for " topping groups" we hardly have a tradition for qualifying for tournaments and finals. If we make it to these finals it's mission accomplished for trap. Let's try and be positive and get behind the lads for the final hurdle, and stop acting like mini- dunphys

We are second in our group , we won tonight & considering these guys havent played much of a part in over 90% of our group games what are you getting at???

I would love to see Coleman & McCarthy starting for Ireland , never mind not even being on the bench but your talking about something that really has had no impact on what we've done in the group so far!!
Shut up ya clown

Correct. 3 points is what we wanted and 3 points is what we got.

All we wanted up thread was a professional performance and 3 points. We got exactly that and even the pre match nerves that some of you had were not necessary, as we were comfortable from the off and the game was over after 20 minutes.

What happened after that, was irrelevant. Players focus now shifts to Tuesdays game.

Confused They stopped playing after half an hour. They were not even trying towards the end. Then there was the likes of Ward, getting booked for diving and getting suspended.

Ya why risk injury against a side that never had any hope of even scoring? We completed the job after a half an hour. Most people would have bitten your hand off for a 1-0 after 90 minutes dont mind ensuring the 2nd half was a formality after 25 minutes, thus ensuring it was a snooze fest in the 2nd half.

Agreed about Ward.

Some amount of bleedin moaners on here. We draw a game then we should have won it, we win a game, we should have won it in a different way. First things first, anyone who was paying attention would have known that Westwood picked up an injury (hence Forde on the bench) and that McCarthy had a cold. I agree that Coleman should have been on the bench though.

Second things second, sure it wasn't pretty to watch, and we are never pretty to watch so how come everyone is so surprised by it?? The mission in Andorra was get 3 points which they comfortably did. At 2-0 the game was over so why risk yourself when there is a much bigger and more important game on Tuesday?? I personally would prefer the way it happened than to have a team running themselves ragged unneccessarily and then being knackered on Tuesday when really needed. It was a PROFESSIONAL approach in the sense the job was done quickly and efficiently. Although Ward is an absolute clown for getting himself suspended!
