Topic: Bohs v Rovers. The Neutral view Posted: 07 Aug 2008 at 7:47pm |
Finally got the internet at home sorted and bought a laptop, so my summer long abscences is at an end!!! I figure I should give my opinion of tuesday's dublin derby, as i was probably the neutral person on this foram at the match.
First of all i must say that the athmosphere was brilliant, better than any other LOI game i have been at (though i only go to about 3, 4 a season ) Bohs were the far better team throughout the game. They dominated the 1st half and were well worth their 2 goal lead. Rovers came out in the 2nd half and had a good go at it, but in the end a techniqally sounder and more expierenced Bohs team were able to hang on.
However it was clear to see that Bohs are full time and Rovers are'nt. Bohs were techniqally better, playing a lot of balls into feet, lots of one, two touch play. Rovers in fairness to them made up for their lack of quality with heart but relied to much on direct tactics and the long ball.
Concluding, the standard of the league is deffo improving, but there is an obvious gap between the full time teams and the semi-pros!!!

cant disagree with that. the rovers team now is for the new stadium and im sure they will go pro over the next couple of years, its a young team and one for the future. dare i say they might actually win something in a few years. (i was gonna have a cheap pop at both but its nice and sunny today)

Ye can't really disagree.
It;s hard to compete with a club that fave a wage bill as high as Bohs',
Bohs are overpaying players and will end up in financial trouble
When Rovers get to Tallaght the tide will turn

The questiion is will someone cough up millions for a club who pay out 32,000 a week on wages and get around 1,500 at a match.

Would they not be able to afford to pay their players vastly higher wages than the rest when the have millions from the ground sell ?
See Below
I wonder is this why they are paying their players ridculous money now with a gate of only 1,500 ?

Ye but there are wage structures in place in the EL whereby you can only pay 65 per cent of your turnover on wages.
Boez are clearly breaking that and could face sanctions
That said i would imagine if the sale of Dalymount goes through they should be sound

Didn't know that. Interesting. Wonder if they're the only ones breaking this though.
