After The Counts Dublin City thread it got me thinking - who have we had wind down the careers playing in Ireland?

I know Dixie Dean, Charlton, Best?, etc. have all played but maybe we could do a few pieces on players like the above mentioned for the mag.

Stick a few names you know down here and maybe Donal can select a few to do a paragraph on

Urban myth, never lined out for UCD or their reserves or Pegasus.

Gordon Banks, Terry Venables, Barry Bridges are others

Liam O'Brien and Curtis Fleming. Granted, they started their careers here, but they made good fortunes for themselves in England. And, of course, Gordon Banks and Terry Venables made appearances for St Pat's.

If you put the query the other way around you'd come up with loads of names – Paul McGrath, Roy Keane and Jim Beglin to name but a few.

Trevor Vaughan is THE man though.

Trevor Brooking and Terry McDermott played with Cork City
Peter Barnes had a spell with St. Pats
and Kevin Keegan played in the Irish League. (Admittieely not THE Kevin Keegan but I think he had a perm).
There are friendlier places to drink.
