Confidence is shot after the WC, and he hadn't much to begin with given Capello would not confirm a No 1 Keeper until the first game. The same has happened with Kirkland, Carson, Paul Robinson, even Foster to a lesser extent, all once promising keepers who have since moved to different (lesser) clubs than they were with when they were first capped. Its a poisition that exposes any frailties in confidence at the best of times, but the whole pressure of playing for England and being at the mercy of the scum press makes it even more of an ordeal. Any wonder Robinson did not want to go back?

easy to explain. He didnt handle the pressure in the world cup and is now the victim of a witch hunt by the scum in fleet street and the media. He is obviously very self conscious now and knows that any mistake he makes will be mercilessly exploited.
