Adam Rooney was superb for us. Proper penalty box poacher, easily the best scorer in my 20 years of going to Pittodrie.
However he needs service from wide areas and without Jonny Hayes and Niall McGinn, he somewhat tailed off. Was sad to see him go to Salford however he wanted first team football and McInnes wasn't likely to give him that. As such a good servant to the club, he deserved his move and all the best to him. Shame about McInnes not having a replacement ready. He certainly wouldn't fit an Ireland team under Martin O'Neill. You'd need to be playing a lot of football out wide with heaps of crosses. Playing hoofball was what Aberdeen did last season and Rooney struggled with it. Ps our best player was Jonny Hayes until Celtic nabbed him. Now, Shinnie is out most influential player, McKenna and Ferguson will push Shinnie for best in the near future.
