It is somewhat circular. Any ideas on how to kick start another boom?

Well having thoroughly re-read all stated above, written by our well known experts in the field, I think you need to contact "Mr Big, sitting behind a gigantic, Boom button "

eh , that's you hornet , by the way LOL

Well.....almost......we thrive during recessions/downturns......always a good time to make money if you are alert as someone else is usually losing a fortune.......so it would be rude not to sweep it up Wink

you are one of these evil capitalist pigdogs neil is always ranting about .. good luck with all that! LOL

Hornet is not at all. I know what Hornet does and to be fair he is a good lad and his company actually produce something that people need. I have no problem with capitalism when it is about making something as efficiently as possible and selling it on.   Its un-regulated rubbish that we have had for the last 8 years in this country that is rubbish, when people made money by selling houses to each other rather than an export led economy.

LOL...despite neils grim socialist politicking, he is a big U2 fan, one of the biggest mass-marketed andglobal corporations in the country, that don't even pay their dues in tax...now there is irony for you....

Citicen. I woudl rather debate the issues, than make it personal. I have not made one  personal comment about anybody  in this debate but you feel the need to ridicule and pigeon hole me into a certain belief system that I do not have. I am not a socialist and I do not think that socialism is the way forward. I believe in capitalism but I think it should be regulated and I do not think that the Caplitalsim that Reagan and Thatcher and the PDs and elements of Fianna Fail  espouse has served us well.  It is all about making money for a few rather and leads to boom bust cycles.

At no time have I said I was a socialist and none of my views are those that are socialist.   My views are not that radical at all. Some of the stuff I have posted before, the Labour Party in the Uk are campaigning,  on by no t cutting spending to a huge degree they feel it will be better for the economy whereas the Tories want to cut cut. Fianna Fail share the same ethos as the Tories in the UK.  I do not hate people who make money and I have no problem people making a profit.   I would check out www.progressiveeconomy.ie for a lot of what I agree with, and this is not some mad leftie website. Its pretty mainstream economists.

Also I have posted on this about U2 and the amount of inaccuracies that you and others have posted about them on another thread, I am sure its there somewhere and not going to repeast myself.    Yu posted on my facebook total lies and inaccuracies, I corrected you and you quickly shut up about it.   I do not agree with everything U2 does either musically or as a business but that does not mean I cannot like their music. But I do not live in a black and white world, there are lots of grey out there and the world is not set up in a binary manner.

So put your wooden spoon away.

here here neil, dont get access to the site from work so not in a position to post.

its a difference of opinion is all. nowhere am i discouraging innovation or thinking outside the box, just dont agree with spending a euro if you only have sixty cents. i agree to a large extent that regulation was non existant, the new regulator has said today that our problems were compounded by a non existant regulatory regime.

also, as a bank employee i think that the idea that banks are owned by shareholders is at complete odds to the requirement for prudency in lending, the reason the risks increased was to satisfy the returns demanded by said shareholders. some grumpy aul git said to me that "we should be ashamed how shareholders have lost their value" i wish i had have told him that a year ago he was receiving record dividends and wasnt complaining then, almost as if he was the victim of the recession. i dont believe in any form of public company share ownership, paper assets etc. you take the gamble, you take the losses.

Tom what you have said at the end there is what I have been trying to say all along. The idea of shareholders and that form of caplitalism is what i am having a go at.   Does not mean I am a socialist.

Typical Meath sneaky cnt behaviour to be honest. Either have the debate or have a laugh but this half in half approach is typical of a sneaky snake like behaviour. Tom has the decency to have the debate and debate the issues.

45 top economists in the UK have expressed Concerns that the spending cuts encouraged by the Conservatives which are similar to the types of cuts favoured by the Fianna Fail Party, could push the Uk economy back into recession.

Well, if you put up outlandish statements like this one on an internet forum you can expect more of the same.

Quote Recessions are man made and forced by an elite usually based in wall street and beyond which engineer recessions so they can make more money by selling high and buying low and the cycle starts again

I should think you should look closer at your own juvenile approach. Classic strawman, my foot! That I compressed your faceless Wall Street elite into one, is neither here nor there.
