Amusing, but didn't have the faintest clue about Irish football. And, as we're now so painfully aware, not someone we could ever truly afford.

I would imagine that his salary was more than covered with the money generated from the play-off farce and the qualification for Euro 2012.

I don't think we should be paying that sort of salary to a manager or taking handouts from DOB but there was money being wasted on far more worrying things than Trap's salary in that period.

This is a really good interview with Trap where he talks specifically about the Irish sporting identity. He evidently had considered it, but like most old people he has one idea that just became more and more entrenched.

Great article. Trap really was a very charismatic guy. I hope he is enjoying his retirement what ever he is up to.
