My itinerary is Monday Kutaisi, Tuesday & Wednesday Batumi. Thursday, Friday, Saturday Tbilisi & Sunday Kutaisi. I'm getting a Revolut card for this trip, seems to be the way to go.
How much spending money would one need for the trip?

www.railway.ge train tickets for the train up from Batumi. The 18:55 from Batumi is the one you want. First class is under a tenner.

Other than that, less than €50 a day spending money out there. It's not western Europe, nor are the prices. I'd imagine, once accommodation and trains are paid for, €300 would be plenty for your trip, assuming you're on your lonesome.

I'm not, am bringing the missus for her first away! Will load up the revolut card with a grand so that should do the business for us. Will have everything else paid for beforehand, cheers for the heads-up on the trains SD. Is the overnight sleeper train from batumi to Tbilisi gone?
Here we go again

There's a 01:15 train arriving at 06:40. It might have beds but you'll not get a full nights sleep. You'd probably still want a hotel in Tbilisi that night, so it probably makes more sense to take the day train.

Also, it is only every other day. Not sure it'll be going that night. There's a 07:30 as well, which is also little use. The 18:55 is the one you want.

This sounds like it would be a cool way of seeing that neck of the woods.
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

The website is called Caucasian Challenge and the front page has a white lad standing on a tank making a raised fist gesture.

Ye might want to open that one at home lads, should ye work in multicultural environment LOL

You'd be a grand co-driver deise with your knowledge of cars and all. Bound to be the odd hiccup in an oul Lada! €40 for bribes isn't too bad. Probably for parts of Turkey and Karabakh

Pints could be got for around €1-€1.50 in most bars (add an extra €1 for the Irish bar). A main course in a standard restaurant was around €6 or 7 but you might pay a bit more if you're in the tourist or more upmarket streets. Think I remember 500ml cans of beer costing 25-30c in the shops.

Pints/half litres were only a euro roughly in that Irish Hangar bar

Aye it was the other one, McClarens, was a bit more expensive. Cheap bars are great craic as well though.

Gabriadze cafe, across the street from the Hanger is a decent spot for food too. They do a nice walnut, chicken dish (Stalin's favourite dinner, apparently).
