Yeah its a decent strike, but Gav is beaten too easily at his near post, he should be saving that imo.

Bit mad that no one has posted how good big Gav was yesterday. Unlucky not to have a clean sheet.

Saw him getting a lot of love from Southampton fans on Xwitter alright - mainly around his distribution.

They're only active if Southampton are shipping goals.

Don't see them bumping the Travers thread when he concedes a few though...

Bazunu concedes a few goals. Why can't he organise his defence, not as good as we thought, Travers deserves a run, etc.

Bad weekend for the haters.

This 100%. There appears to be cult status around Bazunu that renders the good form of other contenders, particularly Travers, as inconvenient facts - almost nuisance value. There are no "haters", just critics - and anyone denying Baz hasn't provided abundant fodder for them is deluded.

Didn’t see the game but reports are very positive meant to have had a good game. Southampton are very fickle atm so I’m sure this thread will blow up again before too long and Southampton after having a bad day of it!

Just goes to show, I watched the first half and thought all of the Irish lads were pretty average. Bazunu started very nervily but improved as he settled, his distribution was good, Travers could maybe have done better for the goal, he gets his hand to the ball, his distribution was poor, Manning had a couple of shocking moments defensively while McNally looked far from assured on a few occasions. Smallbone was probably the pick, putting in a decent shift going both ways and rarely giving the ball away.

Id generally defend Bazunu but there was no defending him yesterday. Positioning for their goal was shocking would want some kick up the backside for it tbh.

He was in the correct position to deal with a long ball dropping over his defence, unfortunately the Southampton defender basically cushioned the ball down for the Rotherham striker who hit a great volley over Bazunu.
We're decent enough..

He was originally but the second it was evident the ball wasn’t coming to him he should have been dropping straight back closer to his line.

The manager will be furious at the defending of course but that doesn’t mean Bazunu wasn’t silly.

Eamon Dunphy says in his latest podcast that there is a 'clown' writing in the Irish papers who says that Bazunu is the 'worst keeper in Europe'. Who is he talking about?!
