That would be Nottingham Forest who could be relegated and have changed 3 goalkeepers already this season. A chaotic mess.

Of all the routes he could take off the back to this season if he ends up there il give up.

I hope so too but arguably this takes pressure off CK needing to move....

*Santos

Caoimhín will be living the life in Brazil. First there was Pelé, then Neymar, and soon... Kelleher.

Not really though, the timing of the injury is probably the only good thing about it. With the summer months to recover, if all goes well he could be fit to play by mid January 2025. That would give him a good chunk of next season to get games under his belt, either at Southampton or on loan.

I think it's more the fact that Southampton will get someone new in and Bazunu won't come straight back into the team. Terrible timing for him, advantage Kelleher for our no. 1 spot

He'd be back in contention late January if all goes well. But yes, they'll have to buy a GK.

That's a worst case scenario come to fruition. Achilles ruptures are probably the worst tendon/ligament rupture you can have. It won't retire him, but it could severely hamper his development. The risk of re-rupture is quite high, especially for someone who will need to be performing explosive changes of movement like a goalkeeper.
We're decent enough..

Not ideal, but it shouldn't affect him as badly as it would have if he were an outfield player. He's young and should rehab it well.

A ruptured Achilles tendon is close to a death sentence in Basketball.

agree on relying on McCarthy, he's sh*t. I do hope it means less pointless fannying about the back going nowhere

Adding insult to injury. They're usually open and give up multiple chances.

In a weird way some of that is down to Baz. We f**k around with it a lot at the back with gav in goals and it invites pressure. . McCarthy isn't a footballer so there was no dallying around at the back for the sake of it which probably suited the team more. Not writing him off by any stretch and I'd expect and hope he's our first choice next season but he really hasn't been great

I strongly suspect that was to do with Preston more so than anything else. I can see your point you do see lots of Soton fans complaining that they become over reliant on Bazunu under pressure.

Can’t really rely on McCarthy.

Strong disagree.

Preston were simply awful and McCarthy had nothing to do. You'd have to watch Southampton play 10 games in a row with McCarthy in goal to see if there is a real difference.

Martin wants his teams to play out from the back. They do overdo it at times, yeah.
