There is a very worrying trend of young children who are getting addicted to online gambling through ' in app' purchases on video games. The likes of card packs in Fifa. That really needs to be looked at.

I have to admit, like others on here I've gambled more than normal during the past year out of pure bordam. Coupled with the drinking more than normal for the same reason, its not a great combination. I haven't thankfully done anything too silly but can easily see how it could become a slippery slope quite quickly.

Banned in a few EU countries already! I think alot more should follow suit.

Basically any in-game system where there's a random chance to win something such as Fifa packs is considered to be gambling. Has to be a guaranteed thing like a cosmetic you buy on Fortnite for it not to be considered gambling.

Have the sky app on the PS4 and when I'm watching a game before during and after the ads are saturated with betting,  sometimes if I'm on film4 even then a lot of ads come up for gambling and pokey machines online casinos etc even morning tv has loads of them.

Another Fad/Craze I have notice is the gambling on Facebook with regard to the Bonus Ball in the first draw in the Irish Lotto one local lass I see runs two draws €20 euro per entry, do the math  47x €20=940 winner gets €800 she pockets the 140 you can pay her thru paypal or thru her contact in the local shop for NYE two draws and Valentines Day two draws it was €50 per entry 47x€50= 2350 and two people each won €2000 each, she has two €50 draws filled for Paddys Day already some smart way of making a few bob and she already has the two €20 draws for the following Saturday filled as well.

I worked with a guy who made the newspapers in London a few years ago.

He was a quiet guy, didn’t drink and seemed very normal on the outside.
Originally from India and was married with a kid.

On the inside he was a gambling addict and was massively in debt.
It was only when his wife noticed her Jewellery and expensive bags went missing she confronted him.
He ended up killing her and sent to jail for murder. Very sad story for the family and the poor child.

A lot of these raffle competitions/firms have popped up recently. One on Saturday was raffling a new house or £150k cash. Sold 2500 tickets at £100.

A few of these companies have been rumbled for fixing draws. I say the majority of them are dodgy.

Sid, might have been on the beer yesterday with the sports on, I wouldn't be too critical there, as it's out of character
It would damage this forums' reputation

Yea I see in app purchase in work that customers children rack up. Could be up in the 1000s. They will give a refund if it happens once. And explain how to set restrictions on the device or account  to prevent it in future.  But when it happens the second time. Usually the child has gotten the password or passcode. Then no refund. Then the sh*t hits the fan.

I think you need to start looking at the mirror when you repeatedly get banned from a forum. The only banter you are having is in your head when you answer your own posts on nonsensical threads that you created yourself.

Speaking of the legality of gambling. A big Bingo company opened in Cork (Rock Bingo). They demanded that the Gardai enforce bingo laws for pubs. One Garda station did, the other didn't.  The outcome was that a pub could have bingo but 100 meters down the road could not.

Did they enforce Covid restrictions and clear the pubs?

The same again. One Garda station was very strict. The other didn't really bother. It's the same during normal times. One station sends their Gards down to the pubs around 45 mins after last call, the other station doesn't bother.

So there is a pub or pubs in Cork open and having people on the premises?
