It could be that he's moving house. Or maybe that he has a placement with college in that area coming up. Or maybe he has friends playing with Crokes.
Could be lots of reasons for this (though the one you mention above could also be the reason!).
I just know from experience when people move to London and transfer that there can be a number of reasons behind where they chose to play.

I have been told where he lives in Dublin and if true then the parish rule should be enforced and he should join the local club which is Templeogue Synge Street. Still a Senior & Div 2 club. Not right picking a massive & successful club like Crokes.

I agree but if they changed to that rule the Dublin super clubs would just pay his rent to live in their parish. It would be good if you live in a town or city you can't move to a top division club. Would help boost clubs That actually need it in towns or cities around Ireland.

Sky Sports’ nine-year broadcasting deal with the GAA has come to an end.

Following negotiations that have been taking place over the last year for a new media rights deal that will run for a further five years, Sky and the GAA have terminated the partnership by "mutual agreement."

Sky were keen to continue for another five years at least and wanted to expand their coverage to incorporate up to 16 league games as well but that did not work out.

I'm guessing here but possibly Premier Sports as they showed some GAA matches last season.

Have a feeling/rumour/source that it some Championship games will be given to TG4 as a kinda "that you" for their work on the club/league games. It would be mainly football games involving the Gaeltacht counties (Kerry, Galway, Donegal early round provinical games).

I don't think Sky wanted it back, they were geting about 40k viewers for games, which is tiny and not selling subscriptions. There's too many games now for RTE to take up a channel for 5 hours every Sat and Sun.

Sky weren't keen. I'd imagine they offered to take it only on basis that they'd get exclusive rights to AI Final. Which even the Grab All Association couldn't do.

Sounds like Virgin and Premier Sports aren't getting involved. Was mention of BBC getting more involved.

They gave up the rights which sky picked up back then, TV3 at the time went for the rugby world cup rights if I remember right.

The conclusion of the All-Ireland championships looks set to be opened up to a vast new audience with the BBC network in line to broadcast both finals.

A new five-year media rights deal is to be announced this week but it won’t incorporate Sky Sports, however, who have confirmed that their nine-year association has come to an end by “mutual agreement.”

But BBC’s continued interest in GAA broadcasting could see the All-Ireland finals being shown across the UK, potentially giving the GAA’s showpiece games a huge overseas reach.

I remember The All Ireland finals used to be shown on The World Of Sport on ITV introduced by Dickie Davies in the 1970s.

RTÉ has expanded its rights for Gaelic games coverage for the next five years, with more live games and a new second highlights programme part of the deal.

The comprehensive coverage across RTÉ television, radio, and online services for the next five season will guarantee free-to-air coverage to audiences in Ireland across 12 months of the year from 2023 to 2027 inclusive.

As well as 31 GAA championship games to be shown across the island of Ireland on RTÉ television and RTÉ Player, the Joe McDonagh Cup final and both Tailteann Cup semi-finals and final for the next five years will also feature.

Increased free-to-air Allianz National League games as well as continued coverage of the AIB Club Championships will feature on Saturday nights, ensuring year-round live coverage on all RTE platforms.

Sad story coming out of Antrim today, ex-Derry footballer Fergal Doherty up for manslaughter after a lad he punched died. Reading the report it was Doherty's own bar, which had a stag party in for the night, someone had to be escorted out, and Doherty who was working threw a punch back at someone, lad fell, hit his head and died. Joe Brolly acting as his barrister.

How much difference will this make?

Dublin GAA CEO John Costello has criticised the GAA’s decision to cut Dublin’s funding by a staggering €450,000 per year, with job losses and sale of assets on the table.

Dublin have typically received the most funding, due to the size of its population, but it set to be hit hardest by the GAA’s funding re-shuffle.
