Wasn't that the whole premise? Two intellectual sons who supposedly take after their intellectual mother, sharing her love of high culture and art but in reality they very much share his values and he shares their intelligence.
In fact, the punch line of many of the stories is that the father is more intelligent, seeing things before they do by cutting through the psychobabble and getting straight to the point. Even though the show is called Frasier, in many wys the 'hero' is the father.
I always found that deliberate reversal of class, education and intelligence to be very akin to Wodehouse's Jeeves Wooster.

I get that and get the premise. A much more pragmatic character with far more common sense than the two lads and acted as a foil throughout the series - just didn't fit as their aul fella for me! And their aul one would never have married a gruff homicide cop anyway Big smile

One of my all time favourite comedies similar thoughts I'd rather remember it in its original hilarious halcyon days.

They should leave well alone! The last couple of seasons descended close to soap opera, another one will probably destroy it completely.

Good point it just wouldn't be the same without the original Marty Crane.

They used two different Eddies, I think some of the cast took some of their puppies.
