Yeah, I was very impressed with him too. It's hard to get my head around a 21 one year old playing so maturely and had he made one better shot and made the playoff and I would have expected him to go on and win. He said earlier in the week that he'd practiced the course on his computer! I expect he'll win lots of opens and many more majors in the future. However, one thing in his favour was that for much of the weekend, St. Andrews was unlike most links golf courses in summertime. I've never seen it so green for an Open championship. Usually at this time of year, links courses are brown, rock like surfaces, where the ball runs a mile and more often than not, runs into trouble. Because of the (mostly) receptive fairways the balls weren't running into bunkers and rough as they would normally have done. Plus, the soft greens and fringes made the usual 'bump and run' shot redundant. As we know from regular experience, it's a shot that definitely requires plenty of practice. Given the earlier weather forecasts for the weekend I was expecting the scoring to be high and that little more than a few under par would've won. It was a little disappointing that the extreme weather meant we were deprived on Friday and Saturday of seeing the players having to battle the elements.

For a lad who never played links golf in his life its hard not to be impressed with Jordan Spieth. Great performance from the lad. Very unlucky not to have made the play off.

Pity for the Irish in the end. Had Harrington at 150/1 and Adam Scott the big bottling dope! Louis lost it on the 17th hole in the playoff. Should never have let Johnson away with that. Looking forward to the PGA Championship next month

Was convinced Harrington was going to win it! Had him each-way at 100/1, would of had a lovely Holiday in Jamica or somewhere this October, not going to happen now, thanks Padraig!
