When Celtic were sponsored by Umbro there use to be a polo shirt you could buy in Elverys that had the Ireland and Celtic badges overlapping, and underneath it said 'For Club & Country' - looked absolutely fantastic, and said it all to me. BUT, when it comes to the crunch, Ireland first and foremost, it has to be!

The sad truth is that people just don't care about Ireland anymore. I hate it, with a passion... But it's purely down to form. If we get to SA they'll all be on the bandwagon and huge Ireland fans!!

I know too many people who's fave rugby club is Munster... And these people are from Gawlay, Mayo, Roscommon... Why would they support anyone but Connacht?

I love Connacht... Mayo (GAA), Castlebar Celtic, Liverpool, Ireland...

But the moreso Mayo, Liverpool and Ireland. I have to admit the be all and end all for me personally is to see Mayo win Sam... But I never miss a home Ireland game, and travelling abroad for the first ever time to see them in June :) I've been to Anfield 7 times this season, travelled to Edinburgh to see Connacht and travelled up and down the country more times to see Mayo!!!

People don't know what it means to be a supporter anymore Disapprove

Lads im not trying to act like some superfan here but I would take promotion this season for Shels way ahead of Ireland doing well in the world cup. Its not arrogance, its just the way it is.

Supporting Ireland comes above anything else for me but if people do support their local clubs first can understand that, I have seen my club Celtic play Ireland but that is never going to be in a competitive situation, really don’t see why there is any conflict between supporting club and country think its possible to support both.

I agree with a lot of that although I would have my priorities in a different order. You get it in every sport, whenever a team does well people jump on the bandwagon. I went to all Mayo's league games in 2006 but of course not a fear of me getting a ticket for the final, ridiculous.

Im a massive Liverpool, have lost count of the amount of times Ive been to Anfield and forked out a fortune to go to Istanbul but without a doubt Ireland comes first. I love Liverpool FC, I just love my country more.

For the record for me its Ireland, Liverpool, Mayo GAA, Westport United

Its fairly sad alright, why you cant support club and country baffles me, they dont have to compete.

Ireland winning the world cup is number 1 for me because it would unite the whole country, its something everyone would celebrate not just a  percentage.

Didnt think you were a Liverpool fan Citizen Tongue

SHOCKING BEHAVIOUR. Club versus country is a debate when you are an England fan and also an English club fan. very disappointing to see but not really surprising.
