no hope of this - bottom team of nine premier teams will playoff against second place first team.
seems to me the only option they have to is to form a new club led by FORAS and apply to play in A championship.

how the FAi gave cork a license is absolutely shocking. Cobh were demoted to the A championship because they had a tax bill of €150k - Cork have more than double this (according to reports) and they not only dont get relegated but give them a premier license, allow them to compete in Europe etc.
Buck stops with the FAI and licensing committee and heads should roll. this shows the league up for the laughing stock it is. Edited by Saint Tom - 13 Apr 2009 at 11:20am |

Your right tom, heads have to role if they dont finish the season. Its Finn Harps that are the ones that have truly been done over by this. They should of been in the premier instead of Cork and if they were not suitable then it should of been UCD.

Cork City secure four-week respiteMonday, 15 June 2009 21:49Cork City have been given a four-week stay of execution in its bid to avoid winding up after their case was adjourned in the High Court today. City face the threat of going under for the second time in 12 months
as they have fallen behind in their repayments to the Revenue
Commissioners, but the club remain confident of securing the necessary
finances to ensure the club's immediate future. The club were originally given a three-week reprieve on 25 May after
the Revenue Commissioners had earlier applied for a petition to wind up
Cork City Investment FC, the holding company of Cork City, because of
outstanding debts amounting to €300,000. The club have disputed this amount, saying that when they emerged
from examinership in October, a settlement had already been reached. A statement from the club read: 'Cork City Football Club wishes to confirm that in the High Court today, the case under the Companies Act was adjourned for four weeks. 'Cork City FC has made payments to the Revenue totalling €102,000 and is continuing to work to clarify the exact amount outstanding. The club's auditors are working to arrange a meeting with the Revenue in order to resolve the issue fully, and it is hoped that this meeting will take place before the end of the week.' The statement concluded: 'The club is pleased that it has been able to make progress towards a resolution of this issue, which will allow the club to focus fully on its upcoming matches.' City are just two points behind leaders Bohemians in the league, while they face an FAI Cup replay away to Sligo Rovers on Tuesday evening. |

Fookin joke...2nd in the league and on the verge of folding!! Even bigger when us taxpayers are paying for all this sh*te to go through the courts just to give another stay of execution and time for the Crk lads to come up with some adventurous accounting.
I do hope they sort it out though as they are great for the league and have some hardcore support down there.

Trying to scam Sligo out of their 40% share of the gate receipts of the cup game. Sligo were told they were only gettin €2500 even though they later found out they were entitled to €7500. Cork also tried to make sure Sligo didnt have anyone on the gates so their little trick would work.
