Nothing.
Exterior Christmas illumination was nicer in the 1990s. Less reliable, but nicer.

Things reached a peak in the 80s and 90s Just enough technology to be good but not so much to be bad. No poxy millenial telling you to scan a QR code to download a menu to then download an app to order a poxy burger and chips. Air travel is cheaper. That's a good thing unless you are not Greta. Health and safety is better Music is way worse now. Television is worse Movies are worse Sport is worse Political stability/World Peace is worse The general public's intelligence is worse Magazines are finished Petrol is more expensive Houses are way more expensive Its all a load of rubbish Apart from that its all good |

Cars / public transport. Sure I've had hassle with cars in recent years but nothing like it was back in the day, every other week they were breaking down and needing a push or tow. At least ours were. Same with buses, they were ancient sh*t heaps. You'd be nearly knocked out from the fumes sitting at the back of the bus and again every other day you'd see one being towed, must be 20 years since Ive seen one being towed. The bus fleets are changed far more regularly, in the 80s-90s the buses were from the 50s-70s. Now they're prob 10 years old max. I know I fume now when a bus is late or doesnt show but my bus back in the day was once an hour and was often late / no show. At least its every 10-15 minutes now. Also the air quality, the smog from coal fires and sh*t box cars/buses/trucks was awful.

Education system and teachers. The bullies and beatings that we witnessed in the 80s was horrific.
The economy and access to jobs is better than the 80s. The ability to travel is better. The likely lifespan of a person is better nowadays. Dublin GAA is better.

Musically, we are at the lowest ebb we’ve ever been. Barely anything that’s released these days is worth listening to. Most modern dance music is a remix of tunes from the 90’s. City center rent being so expensive resulting in less aspiring bands or artists living there is another barrier to great music.

Tv's and being able to watch football in uhd
A better beer selection in shops. In the 90s in Manchester (and I'd imagine England in general), it was pretty much Carling, fosters, labatts, or if you were having a fancy night, Stella. Cheap air travel to Ireland. Was always boat only. The world should just return to the late 90s really, it was a lot better. Not sure if it was because I was a teenager and had no worries, or whether it generally was a lot better.

Way too much choice. Bamboozling. I actually dislike Netflix and those subscription based models. Get Netflix maybe once every 2 years for a month if something comes out I want to see. There's something relaxing about flicking through tv channels and stumbling across something. I find the most enjoyable tv programmes are the ones you end up just finding by accident and get engrossed in not ''ok now I am going to sit down and plan to watch a film/series on Neflix''. |
