Am delighted it is not Carsley! Didn't want to say this before it was confirmed as I  would have supported him if he got the job.

What a load of sh*t.

Will he be presented to the media in a private FAI in house interview with his face pixelated and an actors voice?

It literally happens all the time. Clubs sack managers, appoint interim managers until the end of the season. And then new managers join in the summer. Germany probably the only country where they often announce in advance but most other places they don’t.

Canham seems like a guy with integrity. I don't think he lied when he said they have identified the candidate who has agreed to take the position next month. Pity its not Carsley, hope its not an underwhelming appointment.

Carsley would have been an underwhelming appointment, particularly at this stage.

I’d prepare to be further ‘underwhelmed’, if I were you.

The only thing we can be certain of is that the eventual reveal will likely be both disappointing and hilariously depressing in a way only Irish football can deliver.

Name one manager who you know was signed sealed and delivered by a club/country yet cant be legally announced for a month or two.  It doesn't happen.

On the other hand managers who announce they are going to another team while in situ happens a lot.
Bobby Robson went to PSV Eindhoven when he still had to manage England at 1990 WC.  Trapattoni announced he was taking the EIRE job in February yet stayed at Salzburg until mid/late May.  The moment they signed the deal it was announced.  There was no secrecy.

Its has to be Gus Poyet or Free Willy.    That's if there is any truth in the 'contract' line from Marc Canthavem.

would love to see a brave appointment like Willy sagnol. Ticks a lot of boxes. Another potential outcome is Poyet with Josh as his assistant. But with poyet he has a very good chance at qualify for the euros so seems odd.

There's really no mystery, Sagnol applied for the position and was the best candidate. There was verbal agreement weeks ago. His contract ends with Georgia after the playoffs regardless of qualification, he needs to complete those games before confirmation.

He ticks every box in terms of international experience, affordable, english speaker, formation familiarity,  high pedigree in the game.

It's a great appointment in the circumstances.

Vice president of Georgia FA was asked about willy and the ireland job he said “I am not surprised by the invitations, he is doing well, but now is not the time to talk about his departure. Let's go to the European Championship and ask these questions later.”
So he is saying it could happen!!

Everyone who has been linked with the job but then were dismissed in the papers like Coleman, Lennon, carsley ect have had their odds drift in the market except Sagnol. He was linked, then the 42 said he has not been contacted but yet his odds have shortened. Bookies are no fools.

You know about those appointments because they were announced. This Summer there will be a load of managers appointed across Europe lots of them will have already verbally agreed to join now.

But it wont be until June that the club announce their new manager.

This is what happens every year ffs
It would damage this forums' reputation

Listening to Seamus Coleman on John O'Shea and his added comments about the ongoing search for the new manager suggests there is no new manager. Canham brought in Kerr to oversee two friendlies? This is John O'Shea's job unless there is a public outcry (which I very much doubt).
