Ahh feck off Dan. So they had Poyet and Sagnol on speed dial ready for 1 of them to fail. Come to think of it i seen Poyet speaking after the game and his mobile was going off in his pocket. It was the old nokia ringtone.

If the FAI have put all their eggs in one basket with Carsley who has little or no senior management experience anyway the lot of them should be sacked and appoint a new board, let O’Shea and Kerr continue on and start from scratch with a new board of management. Just give O’Shea and Kerr a two year deal, review it with a new board after two years. Any one that mentions the name Carsley again should be shot.

So sack the board because their number one target was an inexperienced manager but you'd want the new board to appoint someone whose only managerial experience is two friendlies. |

[QUOTE=Badgersboys9]From Dan McDonnells news letter this morning:
"There have been plenty of jokes about the significance of the Georgia-Greece playoff on Tuesday with Willy Sagnol and Gus Poyet on either side but there are sources claiming that senior FAI figures were following developments in the shootout in Tbilisi very closely in the minutes before kick-off in the Switzerland game. And the story goes that they didn’t necessarily get the result that they wanted." |

I think this is the case and now they have a decision between appointing another interim team for June and holding out for Sagnol after the Euros or appointing JOS now on a full time basis.

April comes: ''John O'Shea will stay in situ as interim coach for the upcoming friendlies with Hungary and Portugal'' It is thought the new head coach cannot take up the post at this time due to personal issues

If it is Sagnol, I don’t think they would have been stupid enough to give an April date. It would effectively mean they felt Georgia had no chance, which wasn’t the case.

Trust me you are not far wrong TJ . Now if ( sure they are ) the FAI are reading this thread they will have to come up with another excuse .

No not for the reasons you have said, for the reasons that I have said; which is if it’s the case that they put all their eggs in one basket in the case of Carsley and then discover that all their other bridges have been burned after they went all in on Carsley then the lot of them should go because that’s a complete botched operation. It’s ridiculous to pin your collar on one candidate unless you’re sure he wants it and especially if said candidate has little or no senior management experience anyway. It looks like they’ve made a right mess of it and they’ve even managed to box themselves into a corner with O’Shea that they’ve made it difficult for themselves to give him a two year contract if they can’t find a better candidate. They didn’t box clever with the process and who’s in charge anyway the guy Hill who says “the money was only resting in my account by mistake because someone in the finance department didn’t get my joke “ etc. etc.

They can’t do that. They should give O’Shea and Kerr a 2 year contract if it’s true they have no other options. In fact they should have mutually contracted Kenny months before he left and O’Shea would have had his audition then. At this stage they have to give him at least a 2 year contract, there’s no more kicking the can down the road. |

I could see how Georgia qualifying might have changed things to be fair.
Not having the next manager available for any preparation before competitive fixtures in September is far from ideal and it's safe to say that Willy's price has likely gone up after achieving qualification. Also he's going to be in the shop window of a major tournament and have the Georgian FA pressured to make him as large an offer as possible for the man who delivered them historic progress. If the FAI's rumoured budget for a new manager is only 700k per year he could be slipping out of budget and reach at this stage. |

Ah Jesus. You were the main Carsley theory backer here a couple of weeks ago, then you switch to Roy and now you are onto Hughton. For a man who is wrong so often, I love your self confidence.
