Believe if he goes out on loan next season then won't count as a club trained player for UEFA squads when he returns.

He'll only qualify as an association trained player if he goes out on loan to another English club.

Though having now been at Newcastle for two years he'll qualify for their B list for next season Europa League or Conference league.

Given Newcastle couldn't name four club trained players this season so could only register 23 or 24 players on their A list I'd say he'll spend another season there.

The English have always looked down on the Irish. it's not visual and not something you wouldn't see everyday. The English have a colonial mindset, whereby they subconsciously look down on everybody else.

If you were to rattle their cage a bit, you'll see it.

Newcastle>Sunderland>Middlesbrough areas can all be quite dicey in terms of reception towards Irish people. That raging bigot ex-referee Jeff Winter comes from Middlesbrough for instance. Interestingly enough, most of the planters in Ireland came from that area of England along with the lowlands of Scotland.

Very much a reflection of the minority. Have been living and working in Newcastle for years and there's a big Irish community here which is very much welcomed by the locals.

Geordies are lovely people, my sister in law comes from the Toon.

Genuinely shocked by those comments, a reflection of a minority sadly

The North East of England was heavily settled by Irish people in the last century. Unfortunately, those areas are also huge bases of recruitment for the British Armed Forces so that link to Ireland has been fairly decimated in people's minds in the last few decades.
We're decent enough..

I think it's fine as long as the loan is to another English club.

Would definitely expect Murphy to get a loan next season, if that is the case.

Was curious to see what the Newcastle forums fans thought of Murphy.

Generally very positive feedback mainly around his impressive showing in preseason but some some absolute beauts too

Direct quotes.

Didn't put a foot wrong. Shame he's Irish.

The home nations will be a regular destination for us in terms of youth recruitment and if someone like Murphy can step up this season it will have been an early success.

Not a fan of his football or Irish people but RIP nonetheless.

I remember one of the auld boys in the local who spent time in Newcastle during the 70s/80s saying what a shower of anti-Irish coonts they were. There was IRA bombings in England at the time so I assumed it might have been due to that but seems to be some anti-Irish undercurrent on their forum.

I could be over exaggerating  it too tbh LOL

Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Great to see him get game time.  Probably a loan next season will be the next step.

Gave away a penalty and then had it correctly overturned by VAR. Was a good challenge and then their legs got tangled afterwards.

Will do his confidence some good!
