I have no issue with Byrne not getting included, would just like to see it as he offers something that we generally lack. In general Kenny has picked a sound squad each time

If a player has been relegated, unless its from the EPL and they have been involved previously, it's a bit hard to make arguments for their inclusion.

Interesting squad and nobody worth getting outraged over their omission (although I'm sure some lads will find someone). I know Kenny has namechecked Farrugia before but I'm a bit surprised, as a Rovers fan I'd have gone with Lyons over him 100%. Also would have had Jack Byrne in before Farrugia albeit very different positions so Apples and oranges.

Farrugia is very athletic, quick and a good dribbler with big spaces but his end product is questionable.

Wouldn't be surprised if Farrugia is being looked at as a winger in this training camp. Named towards the end of the squad amongst the other attacking players. Fair enough that can sometimes mean nothing but there's also three other LWBs named and Chiedozie would be ahead of him for RWB.

Yeah, 8 goals & 14 assists from 126 games for UCD and Rovers combined is not the best return.

Jack Byrne has 77 goal contributions for Rovers from 119 games.

His role for rovers is to run down the wing with the ball then pass to byrne or burke tho. Rovers don't really cross the ball much. He also plays on the right for Rovers and is left footed.

That's modern football. You have wide forwards, inside wingers and inverted full-backs.

It's still not the best return.

Fair play to Taylor for turning up after having been in a tough playoff defeat just a few days before.

A shame Cannon wasn't there, hopefully he is still in the main squad that goes to Turkey.

To be fair, you could say the same thing about Ogbene, before this season his goals/assists return for Rotherham was quite poor. Kenny saw potential though and got him in, and he's been very good for us.

Farrugia is a couple of years younger, and has missed a lot of football with injuries, so if Kenny sees potential there's no harm in at least getting him in to have a look.
