Brailsford actually works at Nice and likely to be involved at United once Radcliffe's investment comes in.

It does look like we’re going to have to go down the performance enhancing drugs route.

Hughton has announced his squad for the World Cup qualifiers today. It would be strange, to say the least, to have a squad announcement and sacking on the same day.

Sir Dave Brailsford is available. He could improve us marginally every game.

Happy with a 2 year contact, and then see how things are going. Don't want us to be endlessly locked in "work in progress" mode.

You can hardly offer a manager a 3-6 month contract just to cover Nations League. Kenny originally had a 2 year contract and then signed a new 2 year extension in 2022 that included the Nations League and Euro 2024 qualifiers. It'll be the same for whoever comes in next, 2 year contract to cover the Nations League next year and the World Cup qualifiers the following year. Would you really be prepared to sack the manager after the Nations League next year if he doent get off to a good start? or even half way through the World Cup qualifiers? |

Yes they don’t have to give 4 year contracts. However, next year is just Nations league and 2025 is World Cup qualification. Nobody expects us to qualify for that so the manager should really be given the NL and World Cup qualification and then Euros qualifiers in the form of a 2 year contract with an option to extend by 2.

The two go hand in hand unfortunately and will do for the foreseeable.

I don't want the FAI to lock themselves into multiple campaign commitments for the next manager. Don't want any more of this "we can't afford to sack him" stuff.

It was correct that Kenny got the euros and it’s probably correct now that he won’t have his contract renewed. During his time I think he deserved the support of the fan base as all Ireland managers should get. The board then have to make a cold objective decision about a contract renewal and they will likely decide to part ways. That is what should happen and most likely will happen.
Lads wanting manager sacked midway contracts and campaigns is madness. I will support the next manager regardless of who it is and even if it’s someone who I don’t think should get the job and they should be given a fair craic of at least two qualification campaigns.

I would say that vast majority of the 88% were more so wanting to give the manager a shot a euro campaign versus being devoted followers.

The "88%" was constantly thrown around by the pro-Kenny supporters presumably at the time to show that those who wanted rid were some kind of outliers.

No, this "88%" people keep throwing around was a poll conducted a few years back and it was 80% of 1000 fans were asked do they think he should be kept on for the '24 Euro qualifiers. 35% voted 'not sure' so when you're referring to the "80%" of Irish supporters, you're literally talking about about 500+ fans. It's hardly reflective of the entire Irish fan base. And it's only 88 or 89% if you're asking Claret Murph or Mr Brick.

Yeah it’s pretty shocking people changed their opinion based on evidence. Cowards.
