Indirectly related but I see according to reliable sources Burnley showed interest in Doherty.
Would possibly make sense as to why Burnley seem intent on stockpiling CBs this summer. Playing with a back 5/wing backs? All gone quiet on McNally as it stands if he isn’t staying at Burnley he should be able to get a decent move. Coventry have signed Thomas on loan from Burnley so he won’t be going back to Coventry.

Not far wrong Kevin , now what i have been told / read is that Doherty turned Burnley down to join Wolves and Thomas has gone for £2 million not a loan . |

Would be a cracking signing for Stoke and further strengthen them defensively after signing Travers.
Millwall have missed out big time if they had genuine interest in both players and get neither. |

I'd say Millwall are just being outbid on these players. Stoke seem to have a little bit to spend by Championship standards, they're in for Cannon as well, they might actually do OK this year.

I'd say those Cannon rumours are old news. They signed two CFs this weekend. Spending £3.4m on Ryan Mmaee from the Hungarian league and Wesley Moraes from Villa on a one year deal.

In Travers and McNally Stoke have two quality players who are potentially far better than EFL standard. Not the only two. On paper they have signed quality players for the standard of League.
Still don’t trust them to make any sort of fist of it tbh.

Stoke CB Connor Taylor close to joining Bristol Rovers and due a medical today or tomorrow. Stoke moving him on to make room for Luke McNally.

Lol The Guardian refers to him has English in their transfer round up today. Hopefully this is his last year out on loan and he gets a committed club behind him from next season - be it Burnley or whoever.

Disappointing to see him start the season on the bench, but presumably it was just cos he arrived late.

Yeah, definitely. Only in the door this week, wouldn't have gone there if he wasn't to be a starter.

Only signed recently. Presume he will play the cup game tomorrow night and can go from there.

Getting a lot of praise for his performance today vs Watford (1-0 win). Looks to have played right of a 3, and one of the other CBs went off injured so he's likely to get his starting spot now.

All this hype over O'Brien because he plays for a formerly prestigious club in France but Mcnally, who plays at just as high a level as the lower half of the French league (or even near enough the whole league excluding PSG)) has actually impressed me a a lot more with his performances this year. Never hear anyone pressing for him to be called up in the next squad though so I'll volunteer myself as the first!

I thought he should have been called up last summer. Was one of the best CBs in the championship for his half a season loan at Coventry. Defensively he made them rock solid only losing two games after he joined.
Haven't watched him at all this season though so not sure how he's performing this season. Hopefully gets a better move next season as Stoke are a pure basket case of a club. |
