It does speak to the idea that materially our style didn’t evolve a great deal. Our centre backs did score regularly during Kenny’s regime, and we still relied heavily on balls into the box or set pieces for goals. The evolution in style took place in low pressure areas, and may well have been counterproductive given how vulnerable we became from long range.

When you've two players who are that size, and good in the air, then you aim for them at set pieces.

Thanks for that info, Pep. Still wouldn’t expect to see them in the top 3, especially Duffy seeing as how he didn’t play in the first 3 games (one of which was a home game against the mighty  Gibraltar, where we had 32 shot attempts)

Didn't realise we were that bad back then. We lost 6 nil to Austria!
We didn't win a game between November 1967 and June 1972

Any reason why Holland didn't play any games in the June fixtures?

This would have suited us better since most of our players haven't played in approx 6 weeks.

We have a poxy double header away to France and home to Holland in Sept too. Yet France only have 1 game.

Seems we got a raw deal with the fixtures.

They're gonna be in Turkey for 9 days before the Greece game do would assume a decent sized squad will travel.

Four day mini camp in England at the end of May so could assume an even bigger squad is called up for that. A couple of first time call ups since it's based in England.
