Ye that's why it never appealed to me either. Best on I had was back in 2017 because IIRC it fell on a Friday and we were in Lahinch for a weekend for a stag.

Probably bring the young lads to one of the smaller parades around Dublin, Swords or Skerries or something, then home for beer, food and horses

In years gone by, nothing beat going to me local from early doors, having a rake of pints with Cheltenham on and then Freewheelers band would always play from the afternoon.
15 years later and the local is no more and a Lidl sits in its place and I'll probably be going for a drive and stroll somewhere that is buggy friendly. I know which one I would prefer if I had the choice!

Probably go for a long walk or run in the opposite direction of the crowds. Could not be f**ked getting served €7 pints of slop wedged into a pub somewhere, Paddys day just never appealed to me. Especially when it fell midweek and you were due in the next day. Will save the pints for the weekend and the footie. |
