Probably a well insulated house.

We recently replaced windows. The difference is phenomenal. Front of the house used to be drafty, frozen cold, heat did very little to improve it and once it was off, cold set in. New windows have improved it radically.

Hoping the bills follow suit!

The main room in the house is well insulated. I would have the heating on about 5/6 times during the day for 10 minute intervals.

The last bill was 196 and this one was 534e - some jump.

Surprised to see the gas so high.

Who did the windows?

I got some windows replaced a few years ago and it was 300e per window - now it's about 1k per window.

What gaps between those short bursts? Are you making your boiler work harder by heating up/cooling down for shorter bursts?

No idea.

I just find that the 10 minutes it enough to heat the main room for a good while, it's a new well insulated room, the rest of the house is absolutely baltic!

I don't think it's that bad. Now that being said we do play half our league games in Croker which obviously has better facilities and we also get the odd double header too.

RE tax, should I be keeping GP and other medical receipts and submitting them online at the end of next year? I know absolutely zip about this stuff.

Herself works from home 4 days out of every 10 or so. How would she go about this? Just submit utility bills or what?

Yeah just lash them into a folder and tot it up at the end of the year then input your total to claim back. Theres an option to upload your receipts too but theres no need unless they personally ask you for them, but make sure to hold onto them for 4 years because they can and do ask for them.

Applied for the rent tax credit and received 1/5 back of what I pay per month in rent.  Is that correct or should I have been entitled to €500 back if I pay over €500 a month in rent?

GP, prescriptions, A&E, private clinics, private scans, certain dental procedures, other things like specialist dietary food if you're a diabetic or coeliac. Theres a list on the revenue site.

Thank you

you can go back 5 years Mark , if you use same pharmacy all the time they can give you a print out of total spend, some GPS and dentists will do same, if you ask them

Revenue have add functionality to upload receipts so you don't have to keep paper copies around the house

That's brilliant. WOuld be the same with the GP too I'd say.

And do I need to do anything other than uploading the receipts? Do they do the sums after that?

yes they do the sums,, i just total everything up and bang key it in to total expenses... for whole family ..
Ive no idea how to do the working from home so just put in bills as a total 1500 or something for year,
good detail here, but still dont understand ithttps://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/money_and_tax/tax/income_tax_credits_and_reliefs/eworking_and_tax_relief.html

i haven't uploaded the receipts i just keep a folder in the house.

i haven't been asked for a receipt last ten years or so
think once your not talking telephone numbers, its should just be automated
