It was my dad's 65th birthday recently and we decided to bring him and my mam away for a night in a hotel of his choice. He chose the Dunboyne Castle Hotel as it's relatively close and should be reasonable.

€762 for 2 standard double rooms for 1 night which is mad money, but we paid it as it was a present.

Now they've emailed saying it's an additional €10 pp to use the feckin pool and sauna etc. Don't think I've ever stayed in a hotel where they've charged you extra to use the pool etc. They should just up the price of a room and not separately charge you to use it - a really bad customer experience.

Shower of kants
I dont email the count anymore, its been 9 months : ( He even sent me a YBIG scarf for my Birthday

Even you running into the post for one of the goals takes nothing away from it.

Bad form alright and they should just include it.

Reckon hotels with pools are going to be in trouble as the cost of running them must be going through the roof.

Our local one has put the family membership for gym and pool for 2 adults and 3 children up from 475 a year to 650 a year and started charging 1 euro for towels.  Luckily I
Got in at the 475 rate.

Totally agree they should have include yours in the price. Leaves a bad taste.

Dolmio were giving away footballs with hexagonal patches during the 1990 and or possibly 94 world cups (can't quite remember it was so long ago). Collect the tokens and receive a football. By the time the ball arrived we had about 10 years worth of pasta in the cupboard Cool

Electric Ireland are increasing energy by 26% and Gas by 37% next month, fresh off an increase last month. No doubt this is to try to stay ahead of any measures introduced by the government.

I was about 5 stickers away from completing either the 95/96 or 96/97 one (it had a red cover). One day after school I went to the swimming pool in Ballyer with a mate and his family. While we were in there, some c*nts, or c*nts, smashed the windows of the car and robbed all our school bags. My bag had the sticker album in it.

My mates Mam was too happy when I tried to make my stolen sticker album sound like a bigger deal than her car windows being smashed.

Goldman says Europe has “successfully solved” the puzzle on how to face the winter without Russian natural gas. Prices likely to drop by more than half, they say.

i have to say LED bulbs are unreal. i fitted them throughout the gaf in august. looking at the app on my phone we're on track this month to use less power than in any month over the summer period and that's despite the shorter days in october and a newborn keeping us up for several hours every night.

one thing i would say though is i could do with a dimmer switch. i have tested the different colours they come in i.e. warm white, cool white, daylight with the latter being our favourite but the brightness can be a little harsh, a dimmer would resolve that issue or perhaps a lower wattage bulb would do the trick (currently 6w).

Save yourself the ball ache and go with a lower watt bulb, dimmer switches cause flickering/strobing with LED bulbs. It was more hassle than it was worth trying to find a compatible configuration of fittings, bulbs and switches to stop it that I ended up going back to a standard switch.

House has piped gas central heating. Its only the heating, hob etc are electric. Took a reading then hit boost on the controller which turns it on for an hour and switches it off automatically. Took a reading afterwards. Using the conversion on the latest bill (electric ireland) which includes the recent increases, the heating costs €3.57 per hour to run. Thats €107 for one hours heating per day for 30 days.

Very interesting. Jesus, our heating has been on all day as we didn't leave the house.
