Going via Athens for this one. Saved a few quid instead of going direct from Dublin

It applies to anyone. I live in Manchester, but fancy that bus that only costs £9 and only takes 14 hours so will head south 1st I reckon.

Let me guess this right.  You are in manchester and you are going to london to get  14 hour bus to glasgow because its 9 quid.  How much and how long does it take to get to london from manchester and same question for  manchester to glasgow.

This is a wind up

I sssume the original reply was a typo and they meant save on the extra night accommodation in “Glasgow”?

That was my gut instinct too but there are some strange folk on here and plenty of false economy merchants who go to Ireland games.

Bus to Skopje then flights from there to Edinburgh via Frankfurt Hahn and Stansted. And of course, another bus to Glasgow. LOL

We drove from Tirana to Skopje for the qualifier back in 2011. Looked at the map and thought it wouldn't be too bad a drive. Didn't take into account the massive winding mountain roads and the aggressive border guards after rocking up with Albanian number plates.

Took about 6 hours from memory.

We drove from Croatia to Montenegro for the game under Trap. We had to go through 3 separate countries and get a boat, but we got there

It's quality. It's almost become an obsession at this stage to try and get a car trip in.

You could be there for work

Surely work pays for your hotel then.

Why would work pay for a hotel ?

They will be paying for the flight to GB and the  flight from GB not tge inbetween one not personal’ nights

If you are in london with work and its not your official place of work then most employers pay for the accomodation.

However if london is your place of work then obviously they dont.  However most people live near to where they work.  Yout situation is unusual enough.  Maybe not in the construction industry but the majority of people dont work in a different country to where they live.

Newryrep as I said your situation is pretty unique 😀😀.  I don’t think it’s the standard run of things.

The original post from darmack was strange.  As I said can’t be many people out there that need to stay in London the night before a game in Glasgow who don’t live in London.  I suspect you are one of the very few people that fit that criteria.

Saying that I wouldn’t be surprised if you got the 9 quid 14 hour bus 😀😀😀

The original person said they were in London for work, so that's why I said to save on the accommodation to get the bus.

In 2014 for the Glasgow game I was living in London, and moving back to Dublin that week. I was staying in a hostel for the last week of my time there, so instead of paying for the night in a rubbish hostel I decided to get the bus.
I can't understand how this doesn't apply to many more people.

There used to be a bus to Scotland with bunk beds...a hostel on wheels as such. Not sure if it's still running "post pandemic".

Me ? have used London plenty of times to head to an away game straight from work or the day after   - alot better connections than dublin obviously

really ? it has been explained

Option A - pay for a night in glasgow along with transport to Glasgow
Option B  - spend 14hrs on a bus to glasgow

for most its a no brainer
