Modernised Russian T-54/55 tanks have been seen moving on trains from storage depots in the far East. It's safe to say Russia has a tank issue. This after just 13 months. Where will they be in another 12?

After 5 month's of a failed winter/spring offensive Russia are now turning to the defensive. Ukraine will be disappointed they didn't weaken themselves futher.

Re: Depleted Uranium

NATO’s use of depleted uranium munitions in its air war against Yugoslavia was a “horrible and inhumane experiment” against the entire region, Serbian Health Minister Danica Grujicic has said. Contamination from these munitions led to a surge in cancer, autoimmune disease, and infertility, Grujicic added.

NATO used 10 metric tons of depleted uranium – which is used to make the hardened cores of armor-piercing projectiles – during its 1999 air campaign against Yugoslavia, the bloc admitted in a report a year afterwards. Although the report stated that depleted uranium poses “practically no danger" when ingested or absorbed through wounds, evidence from Serbia suggests otherwise.

“Radiation exists at that moment when the explosion occurs, [and] after that the nanoparticles do the work,” Grujicic told Serbia’s RTS television network on Saturday. These particles “enter your lungs, digestive tract, kidneys, and then you can expect at any moment that one alpha particle, which is 50 times more carcinogenic than any other, will come out of one atom of depleted uranium in your body and turn a normal cell into a malignant one,” she explained.

Grujicic said that Serbian physicians began noticing a surge in leukemia and lymphoma cases seven years after the bombing campaign, and have since recorded increases in oncological diseases, pathological pregnancies, autoimmune diseases, mental disorders in children, and infertility in men

Russia has been using that type of weapon postcode in Ukraine since Day 1. What have you got to say about that postcode?

The russian depleted uranium has no radioactivity left in it. It was looted and sold off on the black market with all the bits of the tanks and anything else that wasn't nailed down, so its grand so it is.

What's everyone's opinions on Russian athlete's being banned and potentially unbanned as neutral competitors in the likes of Wimbledon and the Olympics?

While I don't have a problem with banning Russians why were American and UK athletes not banned when they invaded Iraq and Afghanistan? Or at least made compete under a neutral flag?

A lot of times athletes don't train or live in their own country.

So banning a Russian athlete living in say the US is probably a little unfair. A lot of Russians compete as neutral athletes (not sure of the criteria around this). But politics and sport go hand in hand.

US boycotted the 1980 Olympics in Moscow for example and I am sure there are many other cases.

And what about performance-enhancing drugs?  Should atheletes from countries with state-sponsored doping programmes be banned from competing in the Olympics?

Keep politics out of sport is such bullsh*t. All international sports competitions are political.

Sports-washing is a thing. Use the benevolence of world sports to cover up and deflect from real world human rights abuses. The country the athletes represent is being penalised for its governments actions. It’s not unprecedented, and individual organisations should be able to exclude. In this case, if Russia didn’t invade Ukraine, their athletes would still be participating.

I would let Russians compete but put them under a Neutral Flag, shouldn't have the Russian national anthem or Russian flag flying high

Finally got around to reading the world renowned journalist Seymour Hersh's story on what really happened with the Nord Stream 2 pipeline

Jeffrey Sachs another highly respected economist discusses this topic in this video

Now this version of what happened with Nord Stream 2 may or may not be the truth but it sure as hell deserves huge media attention. But no the news editors across Europe will barely touch it. You have to ask yourself why is that?

Previously I had come across the term POLO (Policy of Leaving Out) by a proper war correspondent (one that actually goes into war zones. Not a BBC or RTE one that is shown around and takes nice approved fluff pieces in their flak jacket) about how the narrative of what's happening can easily be shaped. Giving Western audiences some parts of the info, but clearly not giving it the due balance it deserves.

It's bullsh*t from both sides. The Ukrainian's understandably will have to lie through their teeth as they are been attacked and invaded, that's perfectly fine. But it's not for the populations of countries whose political leaders make important decisions on our behalf.

This breakdown and manipulation of the main stream media on geopolitical affairs, is a huge attack on how democracies work.

It would damage this forums' reputation

Finland are expected to join NATO tomorrow. Putin (and his chum's) bogus claims of provocation, and subsequent invasion of a sovereign state have simply enhanced the preference for non aligned nations to join NATO.
