At least they're Irish. And face it, you'd be paying far more for most trips without him.

Do Polish trains need booking in advance or could we decide on the day without it being stupidly expensive?
you can rock up on the day and buy the ticket from a yellow ticket machines at the entrance to the platform or from the main ticket office in the hall. the machines have an english language option. prices from memory are slightly higher on the day but the ticket will cost you peanuts.

Thumbs Up Aye every site I visit says you can't book trains in advance of 30 days or something like that anyway

Out of curiosity, which site are you looking up trains on? There seems to be a few ive come across, im sure most are reliable and accurate but if there was one recognised site as the best to use b handy to note.

this is the polish railways website where you can buy tickets Rob > http://www.intercity.pl/en/

there's no rush to buy tickets. the polish railway network is world class and there's always plenty of space on the trains.

you just need to change the language to english, however you will still need to put in the names of where you're travelling from and to in polish. for example if travelling from warsaw you would be leaving from 1 of 3 stations, warszawa wschodnia (warsaw east), warszawa centralna (warsaw central) or warszawa zachodnia (warsaw west). all trains from warsaw to lodz stop at these stations so just pick the one handiest for you, most irish lads travelling through warsaw will be catching a train from central or west. warsaw west is the closest to chopin airport (roughly 15 mins on the S2 train), last time i checked buses from modlin airport terminate at warsaw west.

the station in lodz city centre is called Łódź Fabryczna, there's another station called Łódź Widzew but that is in the suburbs so if you get off there you'll need to get a taxi for the rest of the journey unless you fancy walking an hour or so to the city centre.

looking at the website prices to travel on a train leaving tomorrow from warsaw to lodz cost less than 4 euro or about 11 euro if you're looking to catch a train today.

We're doing Sunday night in Krakow, train to Lodz the Monday and train back on Wednesday to catch the evening flight to Dublin, looks the most affordable option at the moment.

Have ye booked the train, if so what site did you use? Seeing different times on two different sites for the intercity train without any changes on two sites and on one its saying its not available to book. Probably could chance booking the trains closer to the time but be good to know. Think ill pull the trigger on the Krakow flights tonight.

Haven't booked train yet but it appears that theres a train from Lodz to Krakow that gets you into the city centre for around 2:30pm which should be plenty of time to make the evening flight.

2 busses going between 10am-11am on the MOnday so that suits well, cheers for that.

Trying not to let myself get too excited for this one after my flights to Armenia were cancelled originally and then the game was changed literally after rebookingLOL. All seems to be coming together now though and youd think this close, not much else will change ha.....
