Heard he left the Irish setup because of a disagreement with Andy Lyons.

I hear there's interest from Finland if Belgium relieve Marteanez and his staff. Teamu Pukka is a big advocate of Barry.

I saw someone who looks exactly like Simon Cox on the coaching staff the last time we played.

You know different people have or can have different opinions, don't you? And there is probably no one poster that wanted him to be offered the big job that altered their opinion to be that he's a useless ****. If you spot a poster who did this then let me know. Otherwise, your post makes no sense.

Oink21. If Anthony Barry was the reason for Ireland's success when he was the coach, shouldn't it stand to reason that if Belgium are doing sh*t he should be the cause of their failure.

It's a daft argument either way

It would damage this forums' reputation

Not necessarily.   He could have had far more greater input with Ireland and is not listened to by Martinez and Henry as much.  Remember he is at Chelsea too and they have won the European Cup and are now on a bad run.  It’s the manager who pays the price.  Doesn’t mean the coach is a bad or a good one.  He seems highly rated though as a coach.

For an up&coming coach having the Belgium national team on your cv is far better than having Ireland, even if his input would potentially be stifled at Belgium. It made career sense, plus the FAI made a balls of the contract situations for all the coaching staff.

I don't think anyone actually believes Barry is a bad coach - we're merely poking fun at the idea that some people seem to believe that anything good Ireland did was down to him, and responding with the same absurd reasoning to explain Belgium's woes.
We're decent enough..

Presumably gone now along with Martinez and Henry, wonder would he be open to returning to us?

Theres strong correlation between some of our better performances and his influence.

Makes complete sense that he would have significantly more influence in a set up containing Stephen Kenny and Keith Andrews vs a setup with Roberto Martinez and Thierry Henry
