Highly unlikely. While I think there's a decent chance that Ukraine drop points to Armenia and a fair chance that we can beat both Scotland and Armenia, we would still be reliant on Ukraine vs Scotland ending in a draw in a game where both teams know victory will seal top spot.

We can win both our games, get to 10 points and still end up 3rd, if Ukraine beat Armenia and the Scots then beat Ukraine, so It would certainly be good to see Ukraine drop points in Yerevan.

Will 2nd place pretty much guarantee us a playoff?

I'll defer to fellow posters J89 and lassaasinblanc on that, they appear to have done their homework (See Euro 2024 thread).

Ukraine win…means Scotland win or draw tonight they will still need to avoid defeat in Poland mid week to top the group…
We also can’t win the group if Ukraine win today.

So possibly a pragmatic/ defensive approach were a draw works for both… that’s ignoring position #21 (pot 2 in euro draw) in the NL rankings which is still up for grabs.

Why are you speaking in the past tense.  It’s not half time yet and Armenia may get an equaliser. Even game really.

Armenia were the better team for most of the first half. Ukraine have made 11 changes since the scotland game and have all the signs of it.

Yeah, that second goal has killed it. Ukraine very efficient in attack.

It just shows how poor we were in Yerevan - Armenia haven't taken another point off anyone and have scored only two goals in the group.

That game will be our undoing in this group.

3rd place beckons

It does. You could see them growing in confidence as the game went on against us. The worrying thing is how poorly we have started campaigns. Hopefully we have sorted this by euro qualifiers.

On a more positive note, it looks like they are finishing bottom.

It's a pity that was the opening game for us. I don't think we would have lost to them on any other of the match days.

Or, we could undo the damage we did in Armenia by beating Scotland again today and then we wouldn't be f**ked.

Armenia were never going to get a result. Ukraine will have been badly hurt by the manner of the defeat to Scotland and there was always going to be a massive backlash. It's simple enough for us, we need to go and beat Scotland.
We're decent enough..

Still need Ukraine to do us a favour even if we take 6pts. No way Ukraine can be as sh*t as they were Wednesday night when they play Scotland again. If we finish second there's a good chance we could end up as the best ranked second team. Would need Norway to do us a favour because I can't see Sweden getting a result against Serbia.

Well then another Nations League Campaign over and again relegation avoided.

Yes we all would have liked to have finished higher and yes there were bad moments Armenia away being the main one.

But lets look at the positives

  • A lot of our younger players have grown into the team.
  • Players like Cullen, Parrott, Bazunu, Molumby, Knight for example
  • We're playing better football
